Kalaka Strainer from the 2018 Collection is inspired by the zinc etching of Mexican printmaker, cartoon illustrator and lithographer José Guadalupe Posada.

Originally called La Calavera Garbancera, La Calavera Catrina has become synonymous with Día de Muertos or Day of the Dead. During the Day of the Dead in Mexico the people honor their ancestors carrying on a tradition stemming back as far as Aztec times to what was a month long celebration honoring “The Lady of the Dead” and all the souls she guided.

This strainer designed and produced by Bottesi presents a Spanish take on the Mexican Día de Muerto Skull.

This strainer can be used as a stencil as well with cinnamon dust or an angostura spray.

Thanks to the Bottesi design and the multiple holes in her surface, the strainer is perfect for the throwing technique with a boston shaker.

We offer the inclusion of customizable engraving in the handle, just select ¨Yes¨ and write your name or your bar’s name in the ¨Notes Section¨ Max 13 Letters.

This is a 2018 collection item. Kalaka will be available only during 2018.
